I own a 4x4, a 19 year old ex-military 110 Defender with a rather thirsty 3.5 ltr V8. I have had it converted to LPG which means she will produce less CO2 than a Mini.
I pay tax on my fuel and my road fund licence so I'm well entitled to use the roads.
People moan us use being gas guzzlers and anti-social, but I put it to you, what about those boy & girl racers who scream around in second in their little peugeots & fiestas? They are getting the same to the gallon as me. What about those fat arsed mums with their fat arsed kids who drive 1/2 a mile to school and back twice a day? I use my vehicle for work.
I do,however, get annoyed with the Chelsea tractor brigade . I agree there is no reason to have a 4x4 in a city.
Another pet hate is 4x4 drivers who charge around in snow and bad weather. Yes, you 4x4 will propel you across snow at 50 mph BUT your brakes are just as crap as any other car on ice. If you are in a big 4x4 just remember that you weigh nearly 2 tons and that takes a lot more stopping. If you are a big 4x4 driver in the snow just imagine you are carrying unstable explosives in the back. Go slowly and gently and we'll all be happy
